Hello!

If you have been missing my posts, I do apologize, as I have taken a much needed break from blogging and card designing.   Since I’ve been MIA, Mark and I installed our collaborative art show, SPACE OOZE, at End of an Ear.  If you are in Austin, check it out!  The show comes down on 4/29, and I will post photos here some time next month.

Inexpensive Art Prints January 13, 2010

I love buying art, but most of the time I really can’t afford it.  I would prefer an original piece, but I check 20×200 and Tiny Showcase for the new prints of the week.  Here are a few pieces I’ve been coveting:

Cherrywood Art Fair this Weekend! December 11, 2009

The Cherrywood Art Fair is this weekend in Austin, TX.  Have you been before?  I checked it out last year, and was amazed.  I ended up going back twice in the same weekend.  There will be original work by more than 80 artists, free admission, kids art activities, craft workshops, and a gigantic silent auction.  This is my first year to participate, and I’m going to have a lot of great art and greeting cards.  I will be sharing a booth outside with Studio 3 (screen-printed tea towels and cloth napkins) and Sacred Soil (organic gardening).

East Austin Studio Tour: Boongoo Studio November 12, 2009

East Austin Studio Tour 2009

The East Austin Studio Tour is starting this Saturday and I am excited.  Mark and I are also having three guest artists: Alison Kuo, Aaron Flynn and Beverly Anderson.  Come check out our studio and our new work.  We are number #125 on the official map.

“Boongoo Studio is the shared studio of Glade Whitworth and Mark P. Hensel. Although the two don’t collaborate, they help each other by sharing their respective skillsets and bouncing ideas off of each other. Whitworth is a fiber artist who designs greeting carts and creates applique wall hangings.  She strives to keep her art playful, fun, and festive. Hensel is an artist, writer, and web designer who is interested in the edges of art and technology. He works in many media, including comics, animation, and installation.”

Our studio will be open the next two weekends, Nov. 14th and 15th and Nov. 21st and 22nd.  If you are in the Austin area you are welcome to come by!

Domy Monster Show 4

Mark and I went to a wedding in Houston over the weekend, so I was unable to check out all the awesome drawings/art at Domy’s Monster Show 4 opening on Halloween.  It’s up until December, so I’m definitely going to go check it out, let me know if you want to come with me.   Here are the monsters I submitted for the show:

Saturday: New Work by Dylan Reece @ Mass October 16, 2009

Funky Junction Oracle: New Work by Dylan Reece

Funky Junction Oracle: New Work by Dylan Reece

“On view from October 17th to November 7th, Funky Junction Oracles employs a variety of media — prints, photography, painting, animated GIFs, and sculpture — to illustrate Reece’s attempt to fix meaning in a world characterized by ever increasing flows of information and rapid change in the complexity of social systems. Drawing from a range of sources that include the pop-metaphysics of the ’70s, the classical art of Greece and Rome, the internet, vintage nature books, rave culture, and Modernism in art, the imagery for much of the work is unified by an underlying sense of idealism and progress gone awry.”
